Step 9 of 12 · Keep and earn
Keeping members happy
Why people cancel, and the habits that keep them for years.

Why members leave
Usually it’s not money. It’s that they forgot why they joined: posts slowed down, the benefits felt vague, or they never felt noticed. Each of those has a fix.
Habits that work
- Deliver every benefit you list, on time. If something changes, tell members before they notice.
- Write a warm welcome note for each tier and point new members to your best members-only post. Add a short thank-you video too: pick one for each tier under “Thank-you videos” on your dashboard.
- Thank members by name. “Supporter credits” on your dashboard gives you a ready-to-paste list of members who agreed to be named, for the end of a video, your show notes or a post.
- Keep your rhythm, and use “Taking a break?” instead of going quiet. Members aren’t charged during a break.
- Reply to comments and messages. Comments on members-only posts are a place where members can talk to each other too.
Delivering what you promise matters on ByUs
Fans can ask ByUs for a refund when they don’t get what they paid for, and ByUs decides, not the creator. Repeated non-delivery can cost a creator their offers, payouts or founding rate. The simple protection is to only promise what you can keep doing.
Build a community, not just a list
Comments, polls and members-only live streams give members reasons to come back between your big posts. If your community lives on Discord or Telegram, connect it in Settings and members get access automatically while their membership is active. Automations on your dashboard can also post in a Discord channel whenever someone joins or you publish.
