Step 11 of 12 · Keep and earn

Protecting your work

What ByUs does to discourage sharing, and what to do if your work shows up somewhere else.

4 min read

What ByUs does for you

  • Members-only photos and videos carry a faint watermark with the viewer’s name and a short account code, so a leaked copy can be traced to the account it came from.
  • Right-click saving and dragging are turned off on members-only media.
  • Podcast members each get their own private feed link. If a link looks shared, the member is asked to reset it.
  • Getting around the watermark or sharing members-only content breaks ByUs’s Terms and can get an account closed.

What no website can do

No website can fully stop screenshots or screen recording. The watermark is there to make people think twice and to tell you who did it if they don’t.

If your work shows up somewhere else

  • If a copy carries a watermark, tell ByUs the code you see and we can find the account.
  • If someone posted your work on ByUs without permission, use Report on their page or send a copyright notice. The Terms of Service explain how.
  • Keep your original files and dates. They’re your proof.
