Moving your members without anyone paying twice
A calm, step-by-step plan for bringing an existing membership over to ByUs.

The worry: double charges
Members who already paid for this month somewhere else won’t want to pay again on ByUs. Switching links solve that.
How switching links work
In your dashboard, create a switching link with the date your members’ paid time elsewhere runs out. A member who joins through it gets access on ByUs right away, and their first ByUs charge lands on that date. Until then, nobody pays anything.
The first charge date can be anywhere from 3 days to 12 months out. Each link has a limit on how many people can use it, each member can use one switching link with you once, and you can have up to 5 active links at a time.
A simple moving plan
- Set up your ByUs page first: tiers, a welcome note, and a few posts, so members land somewhere ready.
- Create a switching link dated to the end of your members’ current billing period.
- Tell members why you’re moving and what changes for them (ideally nothing but the address). Send the switching link.
- Keep posting in both places until the switch date, then wind down the old page.
- Remind people a week before and the day before the date.
Bring your work too
You can upload your old videos and audio and attach files to posts. Writers can import past posts from a blog by RSS. Go back as far as you like and use post bundles to sell your back catalog to people who aren’t members.
You own your list
On ByUs you can download your current members (name, email, tier and join date), your posts and your videos any time from Settings. If you ever leave, you take your people with you.
